Are you planning on visiting the city of Perth this school holidays? Luckily for you, there are plenty of things to see, do and experience for people of all ages. From arts to sports and nature, to dining, shopping and much more, Perth is truly a one-stop shop for the whole family.

Here are some of our favourite things to do in Perth that the whole family can enjoy.

Plan a Visit to Kings Park and Queens Gardens

There’s no shortage of greenery and parklands in Perth. In fact, you could say their selection of parks and gardens are fit for royalty. Speaking of royalty, you should start your Perth holiday by taking the family to Kings Park and Queens Gardens.

Located right next to the WACA, Queens Gardens is the perfect place for kids to run around and play while you sit down and enjoy the magnificent scenery. The gardens feature lakes filled with lilies, manicured lawns filled with flower displays, and a park bench made famous by the movie Notting Hill.

Queens Gardens is also home to a Peter Pan statue, which is a must-see for the kids. A replica of the same statue found in London’s Kensington Gardens, this statue is the highlight of many Queens Gardens experiences.

Over at Kings Park and Botanic Gardens, you can experience treetop views and enjoy a relaxing walk in the park. There are play areas for the kids, where they can bask in the footprints of dinosaurs, climb ropes, discover insects and connect with the environment.

Events run at Kings Park throughout the year, including outdoor movies and the Kings Park Festival in September. If you’re keen for a bit of exercise and some unparalleled views of the Park, try the 101 stair climb up the spiralling DNA Tower, located towards Forrest Drive in the park.

Enjoy the Sights at the Art Gallery of Western Australia

Inspire, educate and entertain the whole family at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. Located in the Perth Cultural Centre on Roe Street, this art gallery features more than 17,500 works, ranging from historical to modern, contemporary to uniquely Western Australian! The gallery also includes an impressive Indigenous collection that shows off some of the work of our nation’s first artists.

Take a Day Trip Down to Fremantle and Beyond

Located about a half hour drive from Perth City Centre, there’s plenty to see and do for the whole family in Fremantle. Adults and children alike will be captivated by the Shipwrecks Museum and the Maritime Museum. You can also enjoy Western Australia’s ultimate market experience at the Fremantle Markets, which boast more than 100 years of history.

If you’re more of a family of thrill seekers, head just a bit further down to Adventure World, where there are a range of rides and attractions, including slides, roller coasters and an Australian wildlife and koala experience.
