From fierce sporting rivalries to iconic entertainment, there’s plenty to see, do and experience in the city of Perth. In 2018 and beyond, Western Australia’s capital is set to become even more spectacular with the completion of the world-class Perth Stadium or Optus Stadium.

With the earliest days of construction beginning in December 2014, Perth’s impressive 60,000 seat stadium was finally unveiled towards the end of 2017. After 36 months, 5 levels of construction and 21 Olympic swimming pools worth of concrete, here are some of the things that Perth’s latest stadium has to offer and how you can make the most of your visit.

Perth’s New Home of Sports and Entertainment

The new Optus Stadium prides itself on being a ‘fans first’ arena, and if the events it hosts are anything to go by, the fans will have plenty to enjoy. Optus Stadium’s line-up is the very best of Perth all in one place.

Perth’s Optus stadium will be the home of the AFL, cricket, rugby league, rugby union, soccer, athletics, and a whole host of concerts and entertainment.

AFL

Built with an east-west orientation like the mighty MCG, Optus Stadium will be the home of the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers in the AFL, as well as the Fremantle Dockers in the AFLW.

Cricket

Prepare for intense international test cricket matches, mighty limited overs matches and all the best of the Big Bash League at Optus stadium. This impressive arena will play host to home games of the Perth Scorchers in the BBL.

Rugby, Soccer, Athletics and More

Optus Stadium meets the guidelines of many international sporting associations, including the IAAF and FIFA, meaning it’s ready to host local, national and international rugby, soccer and athletics events. In fact, the NRL will kick off its 2018 season with a historic double header, when four teams launch their campaign at the stadium.

Many of these events boast increased capacities of 65,000, with drop-in seats being strategically designed for maximum fan enjoyment.
